Mirror, Mirror

I looked in trance at the mirror, and  didn\'t saw myself
Waited till the sunrise, but wasn\'t past still twelve
This body couldn\'t move, its awareness was expelled
To a day\'s journey, following shadows, to the darkest of all realms.

And felt an eye twitching, convulsing, in front of the oval glass
There could be no such strength on a glance, nor a grasp
Body still not moving, begged the floor to collapse, with a gasp
But a mirror\'s two ways, wicked, and it responds with a laugh.

There\'s a man staring back--where there should be a face, there\'s abyss
A woman with blood red skin, beautiful as a bliss
Knee-high children like cherubs, me listening without resist
A feeling of fleeing but with no moon, yet an eclipse, has been long ago dismissed.

If I ever break from this trance, with devils gnawing at my ribs
Pour bubbly over the world the story of this, the things I lived
Of how dark that world peculiarly dark it was and yet my bones it bleached
And though I was astray, they fed of wings, of limbs, of sins.

That the eclipse dripped falls of blood, yet was smooth as water
Though there were tears in golden chalise, they cried right through the laughter
And in golden platter they\'d chewed memories, still alive, some slaughtered
Must feel shaken and yet, I bask in the sweet scent of this horror.

The reverie is done and the mirror cracked and the clock booms night\'s reached twelve
There\'s no longer a realm to be expelled, still there\'s something that yells
Mirrors are most vicious, to show someone and tell to be some other else
If this body\'s to be possessed, bring back the shadows to lead me, for I must be still in a trance
Because I\'m looking in the mirror, yet I don\'t see myself.
